The Incentives Lab
Events

Working sessions on the incentive systems shaping the quarter.

Closed-door. On the record inside the room, off the record outside. Members attend free. Consortium seats are complimentary. A small number of guest seats open per event.

What happens in the room

Three things, every time.

Diagnose a live system

We pick one real organization or policy and run the Perverse Incentive Lens together, in the room.

Stress-test a redesign

Members bring a draft incentive blueprint; the room red-teams the second-order effects.

Set the research agenda

We vote on the next HBT entries, case studies, and Observatory submissions to prioritize.

The series

Four ways the Lab convenes.

Quarterly · Invite only

The Working Session

A half-day closed room on one live incentive system, hosted with the Consortium. Chatham House rules.

Monthly · Members

The Lens Hour

A one-hour virtual diagnostic where members submit an artifact and the room scores it live.

Twice a year · Hosted

The Council Retreat

Two days with the founding Council and invited researchers. By application; up to forty seats.

On request · Yours

The Off-Site

A working session designed for your leadership team or board. We bring the protocol; you bring the system.

House rules

Why the room works.

  • On the record inside the room. Off the record outside.
  • Everyone in the room is a working practitioner, not an observer.
  • Every session ends with a written artifact: a redesigned blueprint, a research note, or a case study.
  • No press, no recordings, no slideware. The room is the deliverable.
Waitlist · Next cohort

Tell us what you'd want the room to work on.

We confirm dates four weeks out and invite waitlist members first.
